Strengthening Nigeria’s Food System for Improved Nutrition Outcomes

The Improved Nutrition Advocacy Foundation (INAF) Nigeria works to strengthen the systems that shape the nutritional quality of food in Nigeria. Through policy support, accountability mechanisms, and evidence generation, we work with public and private stakeholders to improve how nutrition outcomes are delivered at scale across Nigeria.

Our Approach

INAF’s work in Nigeria is structured across three connected areas:

Partnership-Based

We work collaboratively with government institutions, technical partners, academia, and industry stakeholders to achieve sustainable outcomes.

Evidence-Driven

Our work is grounded in data, research, and technical analysis to ensure that policy and program decisions are informed by evidence.

Systems-Focused

We prioritize long-term systems development by strengthening policy frameworks, accountability structures, and market mechanisms.

Locally Led

INAF is designed to provide local implementation capacity within Nigeria, ensuring that programs are delivered in alignment with national priorities, institutions, and realities.

What We Do at INAF

INAF’s work in Nigeria is structured across three connected areas:

Policy & Regulatory System

We support the development and implementation of policies, standards, and regulatory tools that improve the nutritional quality of food and strengthen national food system accountability.

Industry Accountability

We help establish systems that assess, monitor, and benchmark food industry performance, enabling governments and stakeholders to promote healthier food production practices.

Data & Evidence Systems

We generate and organize the data required for evidence-based decision-making, providing the tools needed for policy action, program implementation, and accountability.
