As part of our ongoing growth and commitment to improving nutrition outcomes, we are pleased to announce that Less Is Adequate will now operate under the name Global Partnership for Nutrition Initiative (GPNI).
This change marks an important milestone in our journey. While our work began with a strong focus on nutritional adequacy, our scope has expanded. Today, we are not only advocating for reductions in harmful dietary components but also advancing partnership-driven solutions that enable greater access to culturally appropriate foods, create trade opportunities for African SMEs, and support improved health outcomes for children globally.
The new name reflects our evolving role as a platform for collaboration, innovation, and advocacy across nutrition systems. While our name has changed, our mission, values, and commitment to healthier, more accessible, and sustainable food systems remain unchanged and stronger than ever.
Why We Are Evolving Our Identity
Since our founding, Less Is Adequate has focused on promoting healthier dietary practices, particularly by advocating for a reduction in excess salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats in children’s diets. Over time, our work has evolved beyond focused advocacy into a broader, systems-based approach that engages multiple stakeholders including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), large organizations, regulators, government actors, policymakers, communities, and research institutions.
The name Global Partnership for Nutrition Initiative reflects who we are today:
- A platform for partnership and collaboration across sectors
- An organisation committed to strengthening food systems and improving access to affordable, safe and nutritious food
- A trusted voice for policy advocacy and multi-stakeholder engagement to drive sustainable nutrition solutions
This evolved identity aligns with the scope and ambition of our work, providing greater clarity and recognition for partners, donors, and communities as we continue to advance healthier and more resilient food systems.
Operating as “GPNI” in Nigeria
The Global Partnership for Nutrition Initiative (GPNI) remains the same organisation in mission, leadership, and operations. In Nigeria, GPNI is formally registered and operates under the legal name Improved Nutrition Advocacy Foundation (INAF).
This registration ensures compliance with local regulatory requirements and strengthens our ability to deliver programmes, partnerships, and advocacy work within Nigeria. There is no change to our organisational identity, strategic direction, or commitment to improving nutrition outcomes.
Our Mission Remains Unchanged
GPNI continues to bridge the gap between global nutrition policy and local implementation by supporting organisations in reformulating products, advocate for stronger and more effective regulations, influence consumer behaviour, and generate evidence to inform decision-making.
We remain guided by our vision of a future where every child, regardless of geography, has access to affordable, safe and healthy food.
Our approach focuses on strengthening the capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to produce foods that meet global nutrition standards while remaining culturally relevant, nutritious, affordable, and accessible to the communities they serve.
Our core principles of integrity, accountability, inclusion, and evidence-based action, continue to underpin all aspects of our work.
Strategic Role in the Global Nutrition Ecosystem
GPNI’s work is aligned with the UN Food Systems Summit Action Tracks, the WHO Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
What This Means for Our Partners and Communities
- For our partners: This evolution reinforces our commitment to collaboration, coordination, and accountability in achieving measurable and lasting nutrition outcomes.
- For communities: All ongoing programmes will continue without disruption, with strengthened opportunities emerging through expanded partnerships, resources, and technical support.
- For supporters and donors: The change reflects an organisation that is strategically positioned and institutionally prepared to deliver long-term, sustainable impact at scale.
Looking Ahead
As GPNI, we will continue to:
- Facilitate cross-sector collaboration and evidence-informed policy dialogues
- Support organisations and stakeholders to improve the nutritional quality of food products
- Advance community nutrition education and behaviour change initiatives
- Contribute to healthier, equitable, and sustainable food systems globally
We remain committed to addressing the structural drivers of malnutrition and to creating environments in which healthy choices are accessible and affordable for all.
We thank our partners, supporters, and communities for accompanying us on this journey. The transition to the Global Partnership for Nutrition Initiative is more than a change of name — it represents our continued dedication to collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact in nutrition. Together, we look forward to a healthier, more nourished future for all. Learn more about our work and explore opportunities to partner with us at: www.gpni.org.uk/about-us/
